Moving to North Sydney or the Northern Beaches? Here’s What You Need to Consider

If you live in North Sydney or in the Northern beaches, hats off to you!  You are living in some of Sydney’s most beautiful areas!  However, you need to consider a lot of factors that are important to your move.

Talk to the building manager!

A lot of North Sydney units and offices are new and have building rules and a manager.  You may have to book the lift and loading dock and there may be restrictions to when you can move.  Make sure you talk to the building manager and book what you need to before you book with the removalist.  Avoid incurring a fee for rebooking or attempt to rebook only to find someone else has already booked your spot!

Plan the parking

Most North Sydney and Northern beaches suburbs are jam packed with cars.  Parking can be really difficult and there are often restrictions for non-resident vehicles.  If you cannot book a loading dock or if the truck will not fit in your driveway, secure onstreet parking by parking your car or asking your neighbour to park the car with yours and leave the spot open for the truck when it arrives.  If you do not plan parking ahead, the removalists may incur a parking fine which you have to pay if you ask them to park illegally. It could also extend your move unnecessarily.  This will cost you more as most Sydney removalists charge hourly.

Check furniture protection and hidden charges with removalists

Your beautiful new house in Manly may have outdoor stairs as the access.  You might be on a third level unit without a lift.  Your Mosman home may be furnished with antiques, a marble table or piano.  Make sure the removalists in North Sydney you hire have sufficient insurance that they know how to move and protect valuables and that there are no hidden charges for these items or for stairs.
